MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform comprehensive patient-family assessment including comprehensive physical examination as appropriate.

2.Collect and interpret diagnostic data as necessary.

3.Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

4.Determine medications and other therapies in collaboration with a physician.

5.Formulate plan of care in collaboration with child, family, and a multidisciplinary team.

6.Evaluate patient/family outcomes and modify plan of care in consultation with physicians and other health team members.

7.Facilitate continuity of care and make referrals as appropriate.

8.Communicate patient/family care through appropriate documentation.

9.Provide consultation to health care providers and the community.

10.Provides education to meet needs of staff, management, and community.

11.Contributes to education of students.

12.Evaluate and implement research findings in clinical practice.

13. Facilitate, participate and conduct child/family health research.

14.Share clinical expertise and research findings by publication and presentation.

15.Demonstrates advanced communication skills.

16.Apply principles of group process to establish and achieve goals.

17.Direct or facilitate the development of internal or external professional programs and projects.

18.Contribute to improvement of health care through participation in professional, private or government groups.

19.Pursue opportunities for professional growth, including continuing education requirements for licensure and certification.

20.Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing.

21.Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Implement this knowledge for use within the Medical Center.

22.Ensure the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Participate in the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.

23.Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for
improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department
discussions.

24.Participate in establishing job requirements and goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency.

25.Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees, patient and families. Attend required Cincinnati Children's training sessions, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogens and OSHA. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.

26.Actively participate as a front-line example of extra-ordinary customer service and satisfaction. Participate in any and all customer service initiatives that are appropriate.

27.Understands, adheres to and models Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the department/unit.

28.Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Knowledge of nursing specialty, growth and development, and family-centered care, pathophysiology and pharmacology. Demonstrate skill in physical assessment, diagnosis, well-child care, management of illness, leadership, consultation, research, and teaching.

EDUCATION\WORK EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree in Nursing and current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Ohio, and certification as an advanced practice nurse appropriate to meet requirements of the Nurse Practitioner position (e.g., PNP/A, NNP, FNP) required. Minimum 2 years' pediatric nursing experience with emphasis in area of specialty.
